Run livestock, fields, and equipment; keep the books; and pay your crew — cent-verified payroll and real bookkeeping, branded as your own. Buy and sell cattle? Track every lot from sale barn to closeout. Built for farms and the small businesses that run them.
Most farms run payroll in one place, keep books in another, and track the herd on paper. LedgerBarn is all three — and on your phone in the pasture.
A 2026 federal + NC/VA/TX/FL/SD/MI engine, cent-verified against an independent payroll reference — W-4 steps, frequencies, SS cap, additional Medicare, pre-tax deductions, garnishments, ag-overtime.
Chart of accounts, register, reconcile, categories, vendors, P&L, balance sheet, Schedule-F mapping, 1099 thresholds.
Send invoices and statements; W-2 / 1099 / 941 / 943 / 940 filled from your pay runs — you file them and remit your own deposits on the schedule we show you. E-filing from LedgerBarn is coming soon; we’re working on it.
The H-2A record-keeping most payroll skips: the three-fourths-guarantee ledger, AEWR wage-floor checks, and MSPA per-payday earnings statements — plus the family-employee exemption and the correct FICA/FUTA treatment for each worker.
Stocker and backgrounder lots the way the business runs: pay weights and pencil shrink, freight, running break-evens, cost of gain, LRP price coverage, partial sales, and a printable closeout report for every lot.
Animal records with event history, pastures, vet contacts, and a feed ledger that tracks days-of-feed-left and low stock.
A field log with crop, acreage, and amendment history for pasture, hay, row crops, or produce; area-modeled soil conditions (no sensor needed); and equipment service + cost-per-hour.
A cost-to-raise calculator, a sell-now-vs-feed-longer model, a full scenario planner, and live USDA market reports for your state.
Ask in plain words: "What do we owe?", "Who are my biggest customers?", "What did payroll cost last month?" It reads your own books and answers to the cent, and it can only read, never change anything.
Ask "How do I record a deposit?" or "Where do I turn an estimate into an invoice?" and it names the exact screen and button, from a manual built from the program itself. If LedgerBarn does not do something, it says so instead of guessing.
Upload equipment manuals, parts lists, labels, spec sheets, contracts, or a photo of a spec plate. The assistant reads every page, pictures and tables included, and answers "what oil filter does this take?" with the part number and the page it came from.
The assistant comes with every plan: up to 600 questions and 1,000 pages of manual reading a month, no add-on.
A progressive web app in your farm’s own colors — add it to your phone’s home screen, no app store.
Log a feed-out, an animal weight, a sighting, or a harvest right where you are — big buttons, saves without leaving the sheet.
Your name, logo, and colors throughout — and your books live in an isolated database that’s yours to export or back up.
These are real screens from a live LedgerBarn — the books, the payroll, and the farm, all under one branded roof. Your instance looks exactly like this, in your colors.

LedgerBarn installs to your phone’s home screen as an app in your farm’s colors — no app store. Log a feed-out, an animal weight, a sighting, or a harvest from one big-button quick-entry sheet without hunting through menus.
Start free: books free through January 31The baler’s operator’s manual, the herbicide label, the tractor’s spec sheet, the feed tag, the lease, the insurance policy: upload them once, then ask in plain words.
Operator’s manuals, parts catalogs, chemical and feed labels, seed guides, vet records, the lease, the insurance policy, or a photo of a spec plate. Up to 25 MB and 300 pages a file. Tie a manual to its machine under Equipment & Assets, or put it in a folder.
“What belts does the baler take?” “What oil filter does the tractor take?” “What’s the rate per acre on the label, and how long before I can graze it?” The assistant finds the page, reads it, and answers with the number and the page it came from. On a phone, standing next to the machine.
A reader goes through every page once, diagrams and tables included, so a part number that only appears in a figure is still found. When it matters, the assistant looks at the page itself before answering, and it never guesses a part number. Every plan includes 1,000 pages of reading a month. Re-uploading a file is free.
Farms end up with one app for the books, another for payroll, and a shoebox for everything in the field. Here’s what changes when it’s all one system built for agriculture.
Most farm software runs your herd and fields but can’t cut a paycheck; most books-and-payroll apps have never heard of a hay field. LedgerBarn is both — accounting, payroll, and the whole operation share one login and one branded home, so nothing has to be re-keyed between them.
Form 943, agricultural overtime, and the family-employee exemption are built in — and so is the H-2A record-keeping most payroll simply can’t do: the three-fourths-guarantee ledger, the AEWR wage-floor check, and the MSPA per-payday earnings statement. Bring on seasonal or visa labor and the hard paperwork is already handled.
Cattle, row crops, hay, produce, timber — the books, payroll, equipment log, and field-and-soil records fit any operation. Raise livestock and you also get herd, feed, and cattle-economics tools. Nobody’s shoehorned in, and no one pays for a module they’ll never open.
The whole app wears your farm’s name, logo, and colors — not ours. Your books live in their own isolated database with their own encryption key, and they’re yours to export or back up anytime. No shared pool, no “export blocked until you upgrade.”
Beyond tracking what happened, LedgerBarn helps you decide what’s next: cost-to-raise and sell-now-vs-feed-longer math, side-by-side strategy planning, live market prices, feed that tells you days-of-supply-left, and a plain-English read on your books and the weather every morning.
A flat monthly price per farm — no per-seat math to dread, no bolt-ons you didn’t ask for. It installs to your phone like an app, and there’s nothing to integrate: it’s one system from day one.

Every year we draw one farm to win a hunt-or-fish weekend on our own farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia — deer, turkey, bear, small game, or trout, your pick. Enter from the Hunt & Fish tab inside your LedgerBarn or at ledgerbarn.com/drawing. No purchase necessary, one entry per farm per year; the official rules are at ledgerbarn.com/drawing-rules.
Every farm gets its own isolated database and its own encryption key — SSNs and bank details are encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM). Every farm’s books are backed up every night, and the last 14 nights are kept. Your data is yours to export or back up anytime.
Federal plus North Carolina, Virginia, Texas, Florida, South Dakota and Michigan are set up today, and we set up other states on request: email sales@ledgerbarn.com with the state you need and we’ll add it. Bookkeeping, invoicing, and the farm records work anywhere in the US.
LedgerBarn computes everything to the cent, fills the forms (941 or 943, 940, W-2, W-3, 1099-NEC, 1096), and shows you exactly when and how much to deposit — you remit your own tax payments (EFTPS / state). E-filing from LedgerBarn is coming soon; we’re working on it.
LedgerBarn builds the direct-deposit file (an ACH file) for each pay run. You upload it in your bank’s online banking and the bank pays your employees; most business banks offer this, and some need to switch it on for you first and may charge for it. LedgerBarn does not move money itself. Printed checks work too.
Start by December 31, 2026 and it is free through January 31, 2027, with no card required. Add a card before it ends to keep going; if you don't, the farm simply pauses — your data waits for you.
Yes — self-serve, no contract. Cancel from your billing portal and you won’t be charged again.
Built for cattle, hay, row-crop and produce farms, with real payroll and bookkeeping most livestock-only tools don’t touch — all for one flat price, no per-head or per-employee fees. Here’s the whole field, side by side.
