Agricultural overtime, bonuses, and extra earnings

Farm payroll software that gets agricultural overtime right: overtime pays 1.5× automatically, with a checkbox for the FLSA §13(b)(12) agricultural exemption. Commission on billable hours is the built-in extra earning.

  1. Overtime lives in the hours gridOn "+ Run payroll," each hourly employee has Regular, Overtime, Holiday, and Vacation columns. Overtime hours pay at 1.5× the regular rate automatically.
  2. Weekly runs auto-splitOn a weekly schedule, typing more than 40 in Regular moves the excess to Overtime when you tab out. Biweekly / semimonthly / monthly runs you split yourself — federal overtime is figured per workweek, not per pay period.
  3. The agricultural exemptionOn the employee's form, check "Overtime-exempt (agricultural — FLSA §13(b)(12))" for farm workers who are legally exempt: their hours over 40 stay at straight time and the run form won't auto-split for them.
  4. Holiday and vacation payBoth columns pay at the regular rate but appear as their own lines on the paystub, separate from Regular pay. They don't count toward the 40-hour overtime threshold.
  5. CommissionGive an employee a "Commission ($ / billable hr)" rate on their form and a Billable column appears for them in the hours grid — billable hours × rate adds a Commission line to gross pay.
  6. See the breakdown before committingThe "Review paychecks" screen lists every non-zero income line — Regular, Overtime (1.5×), Holiday, Vacation, Commission — then gross, taxes, and net.
  7. The OBBBA overtime boxWhen a check includes overtime, an 'OBBBA "no tax on overtime" tracking' box shows the half-time premium for the check and year-to-date. It doesn't change withholding — it's the amount the employee can claim as a federal deduction on their own 1040 (tax years 2025–2028).
